Two members in Russia.
Through the good efforts of member Jess Usery of St. Louis, the PCYC entered Russia. Jess signed
up a husband-wife team in Moscow; but we have been asked to not reveal their names on the Internet
until we know it is safe for them to belong to an American organization. As soon as they say okay,
we'll introduce you to our new members from Russia. Really!
We've gotten the following letter, through Jess Usery, from our Russian members:
Dear Jess,
It was so good to hear from you and so exciting to learn from your affable letter that (wife's name)
and I are the only Russians to be conferred membership in the Perche Creek Yacht Club!
Thank you so much for sending all that stuff: the hats, the shirts, the papers, the pictures.
Please tell your fellow-members (including both Admirals and Commodore Gene Baumann) that we are fully
prepared to cruise that mighty river; that among many sublime things we love -- music, art, poetry --
casting aspersions on people without having any practical purpose is our first and foremost priority.
So we feel happy to find individuals who are sharing our highest spiritual values.
During our forthcoming visit to the U.S. in April-May we intend to be in touch with you.
We hope to send you a photograph you requested of us as soon as it is ready.
Please remember: you are always a welcome guest in our home.
With best wishes, your friends (names withheld until we're sure it's okay to publish them).
One note: Although the trip to the U.S. did not include a visit to Missouri, Jess did get the
promised photos of our members, in full PCYC uniform (shirt and hat), standing in front of their
certificates suitable for framing. The woodwork on the wall behind them is magnificent. Since we
are not yet able to identify our Russian members on the Internet, most of you will not have access
to these very nice photos; but they are a part of our permanent history in the Ship's Log.
